YouTube Freezes Transitioning to Next Video in Playlist

Problem started May 11, 2022. When YouTube switches to the next video in one of my playlists the webpage freezes for about 25-40 seconds. It doesn’t freeze the whole browser, just that tab. YouTube tab process spikes in Task Manager. It happens in both MS Edge and Google Chrome on multiple machines running Windows 10 and 11. Tried hard refreshing page (CTRL+F5); cleared browser cache; tested on another machine; disabled shuffle, nothing worked. The only workaround I’ve found is to hide the playlist pane on the right.

As soon as I un-hid the playlist pane the problem came back. Re-hide it goes away.

YouTube Playlist Manual Sort

There’s no option in YouTube website UI to change the playlist to manual sort. Furthermore, if you try to use the YouTube API to update the position of the playlist item you’ll get a 400 error

There’s a simple trick to set the sort to manual sort mode to make the API call work:

Go to the playlist in a browser:

Hover over the first video

Drag the first video to the second position:

Then drag it back to the original position:

It’s now in manual sort mode. Leave that webpage loaded and make your API call to change the position using the YouTube API.

Popup blocker issue with sharing YouTube in Bing search results

On my Dell T7400 running Windows 8 (Pro), in Internet Explorer 10 (desktop) on www.bing.com I entered the term Great Plains software as the search string, clicked on Videos on the top menu bar, and clicked the following hit in the results:

Tried to share the video

Clicked on the More option in the flyout toolbar in the embedded YouTube player:

When I click on More I get a message at the bottom of Internet Explorer that a popup from www.bing.com was blocked.

Message: Internet Explorer blocked a pop-up from www.bing.com.

Restart IE, clicked on Allow once, same thing.

Options for this site button w/ drop down gives you More settings.

Added sites to Privacy settings under Per Site Privacy Actions dialog from clicking the Sites button under the Privacy tab in Internet Options.

Refreshed (F5) on the page. Same thing.

Sites are also in Trusted Sites zone with default (factory) settings.

Came across this classic movie. A film, if you were, on YouTube. Drew Barrymore, Heather Locklear, and some other guy who was on Law and Order SVU or something a several years, or eons ago. But I digress of course…

Good viewing quality for a movie from 1984 posted on a [free] streaming video site. On channel 9 TV, out of the Twin Cities, back in the 80’s they’d show stuff like this all the time. And Night Owl Theater. I mean forget about it. Such an umbrella name. Good luck finding any of those online. Everything I’ve searched for is based on other cities and not the old, independent KMSP after they were a DuMont affiliate.
